CERC Petition Submission Guide
A step-by-step guide for preparing and submitting a CERC Petition
Core Education Review Committee
The Core Equivalency Review Committee (CERC) considers appeals and/or petitions from students seeking waivers or substitutions of established core course requirements. These appeals are organized with the support of your academic department advisor.
- Please follow these steps to submit a CERC appeal
- Complete and Print Official CERC Request Form
- Complete student portion of Official CERC Request Form.
- Prepare official letter specifying the CORE course(s) or requirements in question.
- Official letter specifying the Core course(s) or requirements in question
- Core course(s) or requirements in question.
- Rational for substitution or waiver.
- Evidence or support for substitution or waiver request
- This usually includes a syllabus, course description, or some type of documentation that demonstrates learning outcome alignment.
- Supporting statement(s), if available, from academic advisor.
- Official letter specifying the Core course(s) or requirements in question
- Meet with department academic advisor for review and signature.
- Meet with NACOE Assistant Dean , Jennifer Clark, for review and NACOE Dean’s Office signature.
- Submit completed appeal to the Office of the Registrar.
- Complete and Print Official CERC Request Form
Materials Needed for CERC Petition
Required Meetings Before Submission
Submit CERC Petition to Registrar
CERC Petition materials must be submitted to the Registrar by the student.
Best form of submission is electronically.
- Use Adobe to combine all documents into one electronic file
- Email to Registrar and copy NACOE Assistant Dean.
- It is NOT recommended to submit paper copies to the Registrar.
