The Office of the Registrar at Montana State University is the official custodian of unabridged student academic records past, present and future. The Registrar's staff plans and conducts student-registration, maintains and updates academic records, interprets and applies academic policies, certifies eligibility for baccalaureate degrees, determines resident fee classification for tuition purposes, schedules all academic classes and classroom facilities, maintains processes and provides information in support of academic grading and advising, verifies enrollment and degrees awarded, plans and directs the commencement ceremony, and determines eligibility for student participation in athletics, extracurricular and honor society activities, as required.

  • This form is necessary to add/drop after deadlines set by the Office of the Registrar. 
• DegreeWorks
  • DegreeWorks is a web-based planning tool to help students and advisors monitor student's progress toward degree completion. It also allows for advising notes and provides a place to create semester plans. DegreeWorks provides a more accessible, convenient, and organized way for students to know where they are academically and how they can plan the rest of their college careers. DegreeWorks is not a substitution for consultation with an academic advisor. Students will still need to see an academic advisor in order to receive access to register for classes.

Our staff works with individual students, student groups, and other campus offices to ensure student success and adherence to community and academic standards. Our goal in working with students, faculty, and staff is to foster a campus environment that is conducive to academic inquiry, productive campus life, and thoughtful study and discourse.  Assistance is available by appointment and on a "drop-in" basis.

Office of Student Engagement

The Office of Student Engagement (OSE) provides and facilitates student engagement opportunities for MSU students through a variety of programs, events, services, and activities. We are THE HUB for students interested in connecting with their fellow Bobcats through student government, student organizations, programs and events, and engaging in service to the community.

Our services are designed specifically with you and your college career in mind. From tutoring to evening study sessions before your big mid-term exam, to earning points through our ChampChange program, to meeting with Student Success Advisors who can help you with your short-term and career goals, we are here with your success in mind.

Suicide Prevention

The MSU community is committed to creating a culture of support, which means that we acknowledge the different ways that students might encounter difficulty, reach out to provide support, and encourage getting help at one of the many agencies on campus that offer counseling or student support services.

Suicide prevention is a major focus on our campus. Suicide is the 2nd leading cause of death among college students nationwide, and there almost 1,100 suicides at U.S. college campuses each year. MSU has a team of psychologists, counselors, faculty, staff, and student leaders working to protect the MSU community from the devastating impact of suicide. This website provides a summary of crisis and counseling resources, as well as training and prevention options. 

Veteran Support Center - A Yellow Ribbon Program

The Veteran Support Center is a dedicated space in the Strand Union Building, right in the center of campus, with trained staff to help veteran students with just about anything. Whether its questions about DVA benefits, help figuring out which classes to take or just a place to study or catch up with friends, the Veteran Support Center is open to all veteran students and spouses. The Center is equipped with:

• Tables for group or independent study
• Lounge area with cable TV
• Coffee maker, refrigerator and microwave
