Academic Advising in NACOE
Aligning with ABET Accreditation standards, academic advising in the Norm Asbjornson College of Engineering (NACOE) combines the expertise of primary role and faculty advisors to both connect students to their industry and guide them through the specific coursework for their declared major. Students begin their program with an assigned primary role Advising Commons advisor (located on the 3rd floor of Barnard). As they move through their program, they are assigned to a faculty advisor within their Academic Department.
The primary role advisors are a great resource for new MSU students; they help guide students through the transition to college by educating on MSU's curriculums, policies, and procedures. They are also very knowledgeable about supports across campus.
Faculty advisors are wonderful mentors and can help guide upper division students through graduation. They are experts in their fields and can help students explore career opportunities, connect their academic interests to professional goals, identify research and internship opportunities, and develop the skills and knowledge needed for success after graduation.
