Engineer-a-thon - DRAFT SCHEDULE
Shroyer Gym
Station participant responsibilities:
8:00 A.M.
- Clubs arrive at Shroyer Gym to set up their station.
- A map will be provided to groups with the layout of Shroyer Gym and location of the station.
8:45 A.M. (AM Group - ~140 students)
- Buses arrive with the first group of 6th graders. They are ushered to bleachers for a short introduction and group assignments.
- Club representative comes to the front to lead their first group back to their station.
9:00 A.M.
- Booth demonstrations begin. (Based on 15 stations)
- Plan for groups of about 10 students.
- Prepare 8-9 minute presentations.
- Include description of topic and how it relates to engineering or computer science.
- Hands-on activities with lots of questions are great.
- Teachers will be asked to help monitor students. Please keep kids at your station until the switch is signaled.
- A 2 minute notification will be given, and then a prompt for groups to rotate.
11:30 A.M. Demonstrations for the first group of students ends. Students will be ushered to bleachers for closing remarks and then back onto the buses.
11:45 A.M. - 12:15 P.M. LUNCH! A Box Lunch will be provided for club members who are working at lunchtime. Look for the table with a selection of lunches. Please limit your workers to no more than 5-6.
12:00 P.M. (PM Group - ~150 students)
- Buses arrive with a second group of 6th graders. They are ushered to bleachers for a short introduction and group assignments.
- Club representative comes to the front to lead their first group back to their station.
12:15 P.M.
- Booth demonstrations begin.(Based on 15 stations)
- Plan for groups of about 10 students.
